Summary
“The New Psycho-Cybernetics” by Maxwell Maltz, edited by Dan S. Kennedy, is a guide to self-improvement using mental techniques.
This book is like the granddaddy to all modern personal development books.
This book was first published 1960 and at times it shows its age in the language it uses.
The principles it teaches, however, are as valid today as they were in the 1960.
It combines Maltz’s original principles with modern insights.

The Verdict
The two of my main takeaways were: the ideas of self-image, and the idea of mental practice.
You cannot do things that go against your self-image. So, if you don’t believe you can be happy, you never will.
If you believe that you can and should be happy, you will.
Regardless of your current life situation.
So, how do you change your self-image?
You can change yourself in almost any way you want (including self-image) via mental practice.
The authors call it “the theater of the mind”.
It’s consciously and deliberately imagining whatever you are working on.
So, by mental practice, you can change your mind. And by changing your mind you change your life.
“The New Psycho-Cybernetics” is a must-read if you’re not satisfied with your life and your way of thinking.
