Verdict

Grit is a valuable read for anyone looking to achieve long-term goals.

Personally, I found it to be a little longer than it should have been.

The core principle of the book can be summarized in a couple sentences, but the book is much longer than that.

It emphasizes the importance of hard work, passion, and resilience. We all know they are important.

But my key takeaway was that effort counts twice.

On the other hand, as a teacher I felt that the explanation of why some people can tolerate higher effort loads is missing.

Why do some people practice for hours on end, while others get quickly discouraged?

I did not find the answer to my question.

As far as I understand, there is no research right now that would give that answer.

I hypothesize that it has something to do with “talent”, and that “talent” is what makes people tolerate higher practice loads.

Duckworth’s insights can help readers develop their grit and reach their full potential.
